As a business owner or high-end professional, your days are packed with meetings, deadlines, and endless to-do lists. You thrive on productivity, but when it comes to prioritizing your health and fitness, it can feel like there's simply no time left in the day. The 23 hour rule - This mindset shift is crucial to managing your health & fitness. Time is never the issue, its your priorities that need to be readjusted. As a business owner myself, I used to struggle with managing my health & fitness around what felt like a never ending work schedule. There was always more that i could have been doing to progress my business. As an extremely career driven man, i would focus so all of the time in my day towards business progression. Naturally, this meant that my health & fitness took a backstep. I didn't feel the best version of myself! I was losing respect for myself, feeling tired all the time, a lack of energy and productivity was becoming low. This was until i hired a business coach who taught me the 23 hour rule. He said that you now look at a day as only having 23 hours in it. That 1 hour has to include some sort of exercise every single day. This could be a workout in the gym or a simple walk, it didn't matter. What mattered the most was i was engaging in regular exercise for the physical and mental health benefits. Since learning about this rule and applying it to my lifestyle, as a business owner, i can honestly say that my health is still continuing to progress and be a priority in my life.


How can you improve your time management?


Prioritize Your Health Like a Business Goal In your career, you wouldn't approach a major project without a clear plan and set objectives. Why should your fitness be any different? Treat your health as a critical business goal. Schedule your workouts as you would a crucial meeting. When you commit to making fitness a non-negotiable part of your day, you create a routine that supports long-term success.


Workout timing mastery - I speak to many business owners who always leave their exercise until they have a spare hour to complete their session. This is where the problem lies. If you aren't scheduling this into your day, the chances of completion are much lower. The later in the day you get, the less likely you are to complete this, especially whilst being so busy! Feeling tired after a busy day of work, stress is higher, the last thing you want to do is exercise. Instead, i want you to start schedulling your exercise for early on in the morning before you start work. This has been the best time i have found to work with clients.


The Power of Efficient Workouts - One common misconception is that effective workouts require hours in the gym. This simply isn't true. With the right strategy, you can achieve significant results in as little as 30 minutes. High-intensity interval training (HIIT), strength circuits, and focused compound movements can maximize your time and your results whilst maximizing your time and efficiency. Start thinking about working out as a ROI the same way you would in business. Try to get the most out of your time for the least amount of work. Remember, quality trumps quantity.


Leverage Technology - Just as you use advanced tools to streamline your business operations, you can use technology to enhance your fitness routine. Fitness apps can help you track your progress, provide workout plans, and even offer virtual coaching. Scheduling apps can ensure your workout time is set in stone. These tools eliminate guesswork and keep you accountable, making your fitness journey more efficient and manageable. I also use alarms with my clients to set reminders for times that they need to workout. This is important to prevent you from getting carried away during busy work periods.


Scheduling workouts - The number 1 piece of advice i have for any business owner looking to manage their time more efficiently is to use a digital calendar. Schedule your work week and the times that you are going to exercise throughout the week. I then want you to repeat them consistently each week so that you build this routine of going to the gym at the same times on the same days. Then all you need to do is be disciplined enough to stick to that timing, the same way you would with an important work meeting.


Combine Fitness with Daily Activities - For the busiest professionals, integrating fitness into daily activities can be a game-changer. Simple strategies like walking or biking to work, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, taking calls whilst moving, or incorporating quick exercise breaks into your workday can make a big difference. These small changes accumulate over time, contributing to your overall health and fitness without requiring extra hours in the day.
